Americade: Where Touring Bikes Rule and the Adirondacks Echo with Chrome

A Different Kind of Rally

In the world of motorcycle rallies, where burnout pits and rock shows usually take center stage, Americade takes a different road — literally and metaphorically. Nestled in the scenic splendor of Lake George, New York, this is the crown jewel of the touring bike world. It’s not about chaos. It’s about camaraderie, curated rides, and a deep appreciation for the road beneath your wheels.

Since 1983, Americade has built a reputation for being the most rider-focused motorcycle gathering in the country. What started as a small East Coast tribute to Aspencade in New Mexico has grown into a full-throttle experience attracting over 50,000 motorcyclists from across the U.S., Canada, and beyond.

History: From Aspencade East to Touring Mecca

Founded by Bill Dutcher, a former motocross rider and AMA Hall of Famer, Americade began with a clear mission — to create a rally that catered not just to riders, but to the journey itself. The inaugural event, dubbed “Aspencade East,” featured scenic rides and rider safety seminars. By the mid-1980s, the name changed to Americade, and it exploded in popularity.

Unlike the rowdier biker fests that were gaining traction elsewhere, Americade doubled down on safety, inclusivity, and organization. That difference wasn’t just philosophy — it was legacy. And it worked.

What Makes Americade Unique

Scenic Group Rides

Ride through the Adirondack Mountains, circle the Lake Champlain shoreline, or head north into Vermont’s Green Mountains. Every route is curated, mapped, and led by veteran road captains. These aren’t just rides — they’re rolling meditation.

Multi-Brand Brotherhood

Americade is proudly multi-brand. You’ll see Gold Wings parked beside Harleys, BMWs flanked by Triumphs. This isn’t about brand loyalty. It’s about respect for the road.

TourExpo Trade Show

Americade also hosts the largest motorcycle expo in the U.S., packed with gear, parts, accessories, and test rides from every major manufacturer. Want to ride the latest Indian or Honda Gold Wing? You can — right there.

Rider Education & Safety First

Workshops. Safety courses. Seminars on tech, travel, and tuning. Americade is about more than entertainment — it’s about making every rider smarter and safer.

Charitable Roots and Real Impact

Over the years, Americade has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for charities across the Adirondack region. From supporting veterans’ groups to funding EMS units, this rally rides with purpose.

And that purpose is contagious — many riders schedule their annual vacation around it. Others bring their kids, or grandkids. It’s more than an event. It’s a tradition.

For the Love of Touring

If the open road is your cathedral and your handlebars the pulpit, Americade is your pilgrimage. You don’t come here to show off. You come to ride.

You come for the 100-mile loops, the foggy lake mornings, the laughter around a motel fire pit. You come to remember why you fell in love with riding in the first place.
